The "small aid" the Prime Minister's Department (PMD) gave to Malay rights group Perkasa was revealed to be RM42,500.

This sum was confirmed by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim in a parliamentary reply to Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching.

The parliamentary reply, which was posted on Teo's Facebook page today, said the allocation was given to the NGO to assist it to organise a seminar titled 'Transformasi Ekonomi Antara Kaum dan Bangsa Teras Sebagai Asas Perpaduan Rakyat' (Economic transformation between other races and core race as foundation to unity).

Shahidan, in the parliamentary reply, said the programme had benefited 5,000 participants.

However, he said the PMD did not provide a specific allocation to the Malay rights group.

The minister had said in March that the PMD had provided a “small aid” to Perkasa to help the group to conduct the seminar. He did not specify when and where the seminar was held.
