As Sabah too celebrates its Independence Day today, its people have yet to receive closure over an alleged social engineering project in the state.

 

Sabah DAP today called for the report by Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants to be made public.

 

The commission, which heard of covert operations granting citizenship to illegal immigrants in exchange for votes, had submitted its report to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong on May 21 but it remains a secret to the public.

 

"What is making the government so reluctant to release the report? Is the government hiding something?" said DAP native council chief Edwin Bosi ( left ) in a statement.

 

Edwin, who is also Kapayan state assemblyperson, said the preliminary hearing of the RCI revealed a plot in Sabah to turn its population from non-Muslim majority to a Muslim majority and the people wanted to know the outcome.

 

"We learned of the plot and hidden agenda to topple a duly elected government. We learned of a scheme by the authorities to expedite the number of Muslim voters," he said.

 

Edwin said every Malaysian deserve to know the findings of the RCI.

 

"Sabahans are very much aroused and concerned, and are now very interested to know the outcome of the RCI," he further asserted.

 

Sabah gained its independence on Aug 31, 1963 and subsequently joined the Malaysian Federation 16 days later.
