Umno does not only champion the Malay race but fights for all races, said the party’s information chief Ahmad Maslan.

This, he added, is enshrined in the party constitution.

"So the proposals put forth by delegates at the Umno division meetings will be taken into consideration as they are from the grassroots for the good of all and not just the Malays.

"We hope all delegates will make proposals to make Umno a much stronger party and to generate ideas to make Malaysia a better developed nation," he told Umno Online .

Ahmad Maslan, who is also deputy finance minister, revealed that more than 50 percent of Umno divisions nationwide have held their annual meetings.

Apart from voicing their proposals, he added that delegates are also allowed to reprimand leaders at the state and central levels, which showed that Umno is a democratic party.

"Perhaps, among the many proposals and views, there are those with the 'wow' factor as mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin," he said.
