Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) laments that there is an “integrated effort” to discredit the company and the Sarawak government.
Referring to the protest yesterday against mega dams at an SEB-sponsored conference in Kuala Lumpur, it said the dams are part of development which would benefit the community.
In an email to Malaysiakini , an SEB spokesperson said this is also the model used in developed countries.
“The protest is an element of an integrated effort to discredit Sarawak Energy and the State Government’s efforts to propel the state’s development under the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score),” he said.
He said the dams are part of a plan to generate bulk renewable energy to attract investment.
“This will result directly in the people of Sarawak enjoying higher income and improved standard of living especially in the interior.”
He added that SEB has cared for the needs of the community by providing amenities and preserving culture and the environment.
