PAS has picked its Tumpat area secretary Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim to be the party's candidate for the Pengkalan Kubor by-election.
 
Kelantan PAS commissioner Ahmad Yakob, who is also Kelantan menteri  besar, made the announcement at a dinner function in Kampung Geting, Pengkalan Kubor near Kota Bahru last night. 
 
Wan Rosdi, 56, a building contractor, is also PAS's coordinator for the Pengkalan Kubor state constituency and a director of Koperasi Kelantan Bhd.
 
BN has named former Tumpat assistant education officer, Mat Razi Mat Ail, 48, as its candidate.
 
The by-election is being held following the death of BN incumbent Noor Zahidi Omar, 57, on Aug 20, due to liver cancer.
 
In the last general election, he defeated PKR candidate Saharun Ibrahim and an independent candidate Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary with a majority of 1,736 votes.
 
Nomination is on Saturday and polling on Sept 25.
