An Umno Youth leader is seeing red with former information minister Zainuddin Maidin for sarcastically referring to Umno as "bodoh" (stupid).
Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii, who heads the Federal Territories Youth wing, said even in cynicism, the words "Umno" and "stupid" cannot be put together.
"Regardless of what Zam wanted to convey, be it to agree, mock or oppose, the word is unacceptable," he said in reference to Zainuddin's nickname.
"If Umno is stupid, it will not be ruling the country until today," he added.
Zainuddin in a sarcastic broadside against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak called Umno and other right wing groups "stupid", "extremist" and beneath the prime minister.
He was upset at Najib's reluctance to give in to the demand by right-wing group to maintain draconian laws such as the Sedition Act.
However, Mohd Razlan slammed Zainuddin as immature for his remarks.
"As an old writer, he should not lose control in his writings. Using one's writing to express anger shows someone to be narrow minded," he said.
Mohd Razlan first rose to prominence after he led a protest outside the DAP headquarters and threatened to burn down the building.
He was subsequently arrested but never charged.
