Rantau Panjang Umno division Youth yesterday lodged a police report against Kelantan PAS information chief, Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud, over an alleged seditious talk he gave during the Pengkalan Kubor state seat by-election campaign, here, last Sunday.
Division head, Akbar Salim said the police report was made as the talk given by Mohd Nasuruddin, who is also a state exco member, in Kampung Simpangan claimed that the federal government had paid oil royalty to the Thai government for the landing of oil in Songkhla.
Speaking to reporters after making the report at the Pengkalan Kubor police station, Akbar said the statement was dangerous and could lead to chaos among Muslims.
Akbar said the accusation made by Mohd Nasuruddin, who is state Islamic Development, Propagation, Information and Regional Relations Committee chairman, could make the people hate the federal government.
Kelantan Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief, ACP Dahlan Mohd Noor, when contacted, confirmed receiving the police report.
The Pengkalan Kubor state seat by-election will see a three-cornered fight between Barisan Nasional's Mat Razi Mat Ail, PAS candidate Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim and independent candidate Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
The by-election is being held following the death of assemblyman Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar from liver cancer on Aug 20.
The Election Commission has fixed Sept 25 for polling.
In the 13th general election, Noor Zahidi defeated PKR's Saharun Ibrahim and independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary with a majority of 1,736 votes.
