The sighting of the Zulhijjah new moon to determine Aidiladha has been set on the evening of Sept 24.

This was stated by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, after being consented to by the Conference of Rulers.

A statement from the Office of the Keeper of the Rulers Seal yesterday said the Conference of Rulers agreed that the method of determining Aidiladha is based on sighting and calculation.

The locations for sighting of the moon are Pontian Kecil (Johor), Kompleks Falak Al-Khawarizmi, Kampung Balik Batu, Tanjung Bidara (Malacca), Telok Kemang, Port Dickson (Negri Sembilan); Bukit Melawati, Kuala Selangor, Bukit Jugra, Banting, Kuala Langat, Balai Cerap Selangor and Sabak Bernam (Selangor).

The others are Pantai Pasir Panjang, Pengkalan Baru, Manjong (Perak); Sheikh Tahir Astronomy Centre, Pantai Aceh (Penang; Kampung Pulau Sayak, Kuala Muda, Pemandangan Indah, Pulau Langkawi, Menara Alor Setar, Alor Setar (Kedah); Bukit Besar, Kuala Terengganu, Bukit Geliga, Kemaman, Pulau Perhentian, Besut, Balai Cerap Kusza, Mukim Merang, Setiu (Terengganu),

Bukit Peraksi, Pasir Puteh, Bukit Kampung Tembeling, Manjur, Olak Jeram, Kuala Krai, Menara Bangunan SEDC, Jalan Tengku Putera Semerak, Kota Baru (Kelantan); Tanjong Lubang, Miri, Teluk Bandung, Kuching, Tanjung Batu, Bintulu (Sarawak); Balai Cerap Al-Biruni, Tanjung Dumpil, Putatan (Sabah).

Bukit Tanjong Batu, Nenasi, Gunung Berincang, Cameron Highlands, Bukit Pelindong, Kuantan (Pahang); Tingkat 13, Menara Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Kampus Antarabangsa Labuan at Labuan; Menara Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Kuala Sungai Baru and Simpang Empat (Perlis).

At night, the Keeper of the Rulers Seal, Syed Danial Syed  Ahmad, will declare the date of Aidiladha via radio and television.
