MUKTAMAR PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat is absent from the party’s 60th muktamar, held for the first time in Johor, for health reasons.

Although not attending, the 83-year-old former Kelantan menteri besar still managed to deliver his message to the delegates today through a live broadcast from Kelantan.

“A muktamar is something that is enjoined in Islam, so have a good discussion,” he said through a few large screens put up in the conference hall where the party’s annual assembly is being held in Parit Raja, Batu Pahat, from today until Saturday.

Nik Aziz, however, said he would be helping the PAS machinery in facing the Pengkalan Kubor state seat by-election this Sept 25.

In the by-election, Barisan Nasional candidate Mat Razi Mat Ail will be challenged by PAS candidate Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim and Independent Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.

The by-election is held following the death of the area’s BN assemblyperson Noor Zahidi Omar from liver cancer on Aug 20.
