Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen was yet again slammed for his rant on the playing of the Negaraku in cinemas, this time by MIC Youth.

Calling the Kuching MP’s views "retarded", MIC Youth chief C Sivarraajh said Chong is an "embarrassment to Parliament" and a "disgrace to the people of Borneo and all Malaysians".

"I am strongly displeased how a man like him with his retarded views could be elected to parliament in the first place," he said in a statement.

Sivarraajh (left) added that harsh action should to be taken against Chong by DAP, as such "remarks are not fitting of an elected MP".

He also took a stab at DAP, stating many DAP members that have been making controversial remarks have gotten off easy.

"He should not be let off by a simple apology as DAP many other MPs have been doing it with impunity and getting off with a mere apology."

"We urge the DAP to view Chong case very seriously and stop the insult statements that DAP elected representatives often make," Sivarraajh said.

Communist era

Chong Chieng Jien landed himself in hot water on Malaysia Day, after a rant on Facebook about the playing of Negaraku before a feature film in cinemas, in conjunction with the celebrations.

He said that this is as "an absolute disgrace" and "ridiculous".

"Is Malaysia heading towards the Communist Mao era where everywhere you go, you must shout out loud and show that you are a patriot?" he had asked.

He later retracted the post and apologised, but Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi said the apology is insincere.

Chong was also criticised by Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang and Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
