Outgoing Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is one of the best to have ever held the Selangor post, said a PAS executive councillor.

"I want to congratulate Khalid, he has done an excellent job. I think as one of the best menteri besars that Selangor has ever had," said Iskandar Samad today.

Speaking to the media at the state administrative building today, he added that Selangor was fortunate to have had Khalid (left in photo ) running the state since 2008.

Today is expected to be Khalid's last day in office, following an imbroglio that has lasted for months which began with his expulsion from PKR.

A farewell party will be held for him this evening, and Khalid will chair a press conference later at 4pm.

Bizzarrely, the palace last week maintained that the replacement, that the sultan has selected from interviewing several select candidates, would " not be revealed " until the official announcement.

Iskandar is reported to be one of the three candidates that the palace has interviewed for the job.

Meanwhile, another PAS executive councillor, Sallehen Mukhyi, said Selangor had lost a great leader.

"I want to thank Khalid for all that he has taught me. He has shown good leadership and integrity, it will be hard to replace him," he said.

Sallehen and Iskandar are two of the four remaining exco members in the state, after Khalid terminated all the other PKR and DAP reps in his lineup shortly after he himself was sacked from PKR.

By convention, the four PAS representatives will also have to leave office today, as the new menteri besar, whoever it may be, will have to appoint a new lineup.
