P KUBOR PAS has admitted that its chances of winning the Pengkalan Kubor by-election are slimmer, as voting has been set for tomorrow, which is a working day.

Even though the Kelantan government has declared tomorrow a special holiday, PAS feels the date chosen prevents at least 20 percent of its outstation voters from coming back to vote.

PAS by-election d irector Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man ( left ) said the party was depending on outstation voters, as a tough battle is expected for the seat.

“Logically, the voter turnout will reduce because outstation voters may not come back. Hari Raya Haji is coming up and that could mean voters need to come back to their villages twice,” Tuan Ibrahim said.

“Voting is not like coming back to be a tourist. Why would they, in such a short time, come back to the village three times?” he asked.

He said the party is asking outstation voters to come back, if possible on their part.

Meanwhile, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said that the Election Commission's (EC) decision to set polling for tomorrow as an "irresponsible" act.
 
"The EC's responsibility is to set an appropriate date to enable people to come back and vote," he said.
 
"What they did makes it difficult for people to come back and vote," he added.
 
The by-election tomorrow will see a three-cornered fight between BN's Mat Razi Mat Ali, PAS' Wan Rosdi Wan Ibrahim and Independent candidate Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
