Veteran film director Jamil Sulong died at a son’s house in Bukit Utama Damansara in Kuala Lumpur last night.

He was 88.

Jamil ( left ) died of a stroke about 9.30pm at Arjunaidi’s house.

According to another son, Anwardi, the film director had earlier been admitted to the University Malaya Medical Centre for almost a month.

He said Jamil’s body would be taken to the Masjid Al-Ghufran, Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Kuala Lumpur for final rites and prayers after Friday prayers today.

Anwardi said his father would be buried at the Janda Baik Muslim Cemetery in Bentong, Pahang today.

Jamil was known for such films as ‘Batu Belah Batu Bertangkup’, ‘Si Tanggang’, ‘Lela Manja’, ‘Bidasari’ and ‘Raja Bersiong’.

He is survived by Rosnani and four chidlren, Murniaty, Arjunaidi, Anwardi and Asnadi.
