Perak DAP has challenged Umno to support the Universiti Malaya student union's call for bumiputera property discount to be extended to all low-income house buyers.

Responding to Housing, Local Government and Urban Well-being Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan, it said that Umno should do so to prove it is not a "hypocrite".

Perak DAP economic development bureau chief Chong Zhemin said that this is as Umno is falsely accusing the DAP of chauvinism, while itself supporting a policy, which only benefits one race.

"DAP will not only fight and protect the rights of bumiputera house buyers, but will fight and protect the rights of all Malaysian house buyers regardless of race. Is Umno prepared to do the same?" he asked.

Abdul Rahman (right) had on Twitter asked if the DAP had become "too big-headed to acknowledge that bumiputera house buyers’ rights must be protected".

He also said that he would not take advice from a "chauvinist and racist party like DAP".

The minister was commenting on allegations circulating on social media that bumiputera house buyers are victimized by house buyers.

To this, Chong said that a thorough investigation should be conducted on the matter.

However, Abdul Rahman should not use it to fan racial sentiments .

He also challenged Abdul Rahman to prove that DAP has supported policy, which sides one race over another.
