Hats off to Uthaya for his courage and persistence
YOURSAY ‘Unlike others, he brushed aside the temptations of a prestigious office.’
After 485 days in prison, Uthaya has 'no regrets'
Swipenter: Of all the major founder members of Hindraf, only P Uthayakumar rightly deserves our respect and support. He is steadfast in upholding the principles of equality, social justice and truth for all, especially for the poor and marginalised.
Unlike others, he brushed aside the temptations of a prestigious office, position, money and deluded sense of power. I really hope he can revive Hindraf movement and work with others for a better Bolehland for all and not just one community.
Negarawan: Hats off to Uthayakumar for his courage and persistence in standing up for the truth, unlike his hypocritical brother.
Commentable: Whether you are right or wrong matters no more. You have served your time and you have done it with the utmost dignity, courage and perseverance.
You have indeed earned the respect of many Malaysians (of all races) as you have shown us that you have endured a place where even angels fear to tread.
Very, very few people are prepared to take the kind of punishment and torture as those which have befallen onto you, so bravo and God bless.
Raja Chulan: I hope Uthaya will hold steadfast to the ways of Mahatma Gandhi. Coincidentally, yesterday was Gandhi's birthday. In the end, I am sure, truth and good will defeat falsehood and the evil Umno.
Zulkefli Ibrahim: Uthaya should be in prison for another 30 years. He can be like Nelson Mandela then. What good is he when he is out?
In terms of being racist, who is more racist - the Indians, the Chinese or the Malays? Imagine if the Chinese or Indians were to rule Malaysia - they will be more evil than Umno.
Angry Citizen: Zulkefli Ibrahim, we shall wait for the day you are able to differentiate right from wrong and treat all Malaysians as equals, because your mind is currently in an Internal Security Act (ISA)-like prison.
While Uthaya has walked out of prison, you are still a prisoner to your unenlightened thoughts. But I hope one day you will be free, too.
Dr Suresh Kumar: Sadly, courageous crusaders like Uthaya who speak the truth without fear or favour have no place in Pakatan Rakyat's Malaysian Malaysia.
Those who fear the truth have never survived long as history as proven time and again because the truth will ultimately manifest itself in many different forms.
Zulkefli Ibrahim, it's precisely for people like you who can't differentiate a racist from those who fight against racism that he should be out to put you and the other racist Zulkeflies in your place.
By the way, the Tamil kings from South India were already ruling not only Malaysia but also Southeast Asia and part of Indochina before your great, great, great, grandfathers, who were Hindus, were even born.
The Indian Malaysians are not interested in ruling Malaysia again, and neither are the Chinese Malaysians. You can shove your theory up your whatever for all it’s worth.
Kit P: Unfortunately, years of injustice perpetrated against him have not taught Uthaya the clarity to see right from wrong. Sitting on the fence in the face of cruel, authoritarian power is a wrong in itself.
Disgusted: Uthaya, I am really glad you are free again. I hope you have learnt a lesson never to trust Umno-BN ever. Don't sit on the fence and hit out at Pakatan at the same time. Pakatan is not in Putrajaya and will not be able to do all that you ask for. However, they do care about all races (Malaysians).
You can't stand alone and fight. Your brother has learnt a lesson in trusting Najib Abdul Razak and now finds himself an outcast as Pakatan does not trust him either. So you should align yourself with Pakatan and fight a good fight to unseat and get rid of Umno-BN from Putrajaya once and for all.
Indian Malaysians were a big letdown in the last general election when Pakatan was nearly at the gates of Putrajaya. They were a letdown in previous Hulu Selangor by-elections and the recent Teluk Intan by-election - all because MIC could still con them into voting BN.
Uthaya, your mission is to get Indians united again and bring down the mighty Umno-BN and send MIC into the dustbin of politics just as Chinese have done to MCA and Gerakan.
Anonymous_1403851580: I cannot forget your good deeds for the society. Not everybody can see ghosts. You can see them, that's why you cried for justice.
Nonbeliever: If you want to do something good in life, you have to suffer. Wisdom can only come from experience and that 'experience' is ‘suffering'. I, too, have suffered helping the poor and the weak.
Anonymous #19098644: Uthaya has guts and principles. He did not flee, he did not cringe, he did not recant his beliefs and principles.
I don't agree with some of his stands, but I respect him as a man of principle and integrity, unlike many others who have sold their soul for 30 pieces of silver.
