PAS Youth will take part in the anti-fuel hike protest to be held in front of the Parliament gates this Wednesday. 
 
The wing's chief Suhaizan Kaiat (right) said that there is no reason for the government to hike up the fuel price when prices have gone down worldwide.
 
"It is time the people rise to protest against the fuel hike. As an oil producer, the rakyat have a right to enjoy all produce from the  country. The people should not be burdened by such a hike. 
 
"The PAS Youth exco will go down (to the protest) to state our opposition against the fuel hike," he said. 
 
Last week, the Coalition Against Inflation (Protes) had announced that a demonstration will be held on Oct 8. 

The last parliament session for this year begins tomorrow. 

 

Protes had said that a hike in fuel prices automatically leads to a hike in prices of goods and services, which then burdens the rakyat. 
 
"Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his government had gone back on their last general election manifesto promises not to increase the prices of fuel.
 
"Forty sen this year alone is too much for the people, what more of its chain effects on other goods and the fact that there has been almost no increase in wages," said Aiman Athirah (left) of the Protes secretariat. 
 
She also questioned whether the fuel hike is a way to help Petronas which has been affected by the decline of oil prices worldwide.
