Seacera Group Bhd yesterday announced that a submission to prequalify to bid for the proposed Warisan Merdeka project has been successful.
 
On June 6, 2014, Seacera, Sinohydro Corp Ltd, Shanghai Construction Group Co Ltd (SCG) and SPAZ Sdn Bhd (SPAZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to form a joint venture (JV) to bid for the project.
    
The JV was formed to jointly prepare and submit a response to the prequalification and bidding for the proposed project in the financing plus Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) modes. 
    
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Seacera said the company and the three parties have been invited to participate in the tendering process to construct the tower structure.
    
The structure comprises a reinforced raft foundation, concrete core walls and mega columns as well as a multi-storey basement car park, while the company is also responsible for the management of nominated subcontractors for the main contractor works, it said.
    
Seacera, the only bumiputera homogenous tile manufacturer in Malaysia, has interests in manufacturing, construction, building materials supply and property development, and has supplied some RM500 million worth of building materials locally and abroad. 
    
The company exports at least 25 percent of its building materials products to some 30 countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, Singapore, Pakistan, India, Japan and Switzerland.
