Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) councillor Iszuree Ibrahim’s criticism of the state government should be accepted with an open mind, says PAS vice-president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

Tuan Ibrahim said it was common practice and only natural for delegates to criticise the party’s decisions during the PAS muktamar.

Stressing that this did not mean that he was defending Iszuree, he said the matter should be viewed from the principles that had been championed by Pakatan Rakyat.

“This is because it (the PAS multamar) is the best platform to raise the people’s issues and Pakatan leaders should view it from a positive viewpoint,” today's issue of Utusan Malaysia quotes Tuan Ibrahim ( left ) as saying.

“If we claim that we practise the open concept, then the matter must be viewed in a positive manner.”

Meanwhile, Iszuree told the Malay daily that his fight would continue, although he is receiving pressure from certain quarters.

Iszuree said  he is still spirited to give his services as a councillor, although his budget allocation has been frozen and he is barred from sitting in any of the MPPP’s sub-committees.

“I will ensure that what I have been fighting for, like the construction of the public market in Teluk Kumbar, which costs RM20 million, will go on as planned,” he said.

Iszuree incurred the wrath of the Penang government when he urged the state government to stop implementing pro-BN policies which were deemed to be pro-developer in his speech at his party's muktamar in Johor last month.
