The MCA passed six resolutions unanimously on party affairs, politics, economics, education, government and security, at its 61st annual general assembly (AGM) today.             

Among the resolutions approved by the delegates was the party's transformation plan, with calls for strong participation from existing members to strengthen the party.

       

The MCA, lead by its president Liow Tiong Lai, wants moderation and multiracialism to be embraced along with the 1Malaysia concept in formulating more diverse, moderate, fair and competitive national policies.            

On the political resolution, MCA supports among others, the statement by Prime Minister Najib Razak ( right ) to reject extremism for the sake of social and national harmony.  

On the economic aspect, the party wants the government to provide a comprehensive implementation mechanism and a safety net to minimise the Goods and Services Tax (GST) impact on middle and lower-income groups.    

              

The party also wants the government to build more and spacious affordable homes, to ease the people’s burden in the face of rising house prices, thus achieving the goal of home ownership for all.               

On education, MCA stands firm on native language education and rejects any calls for the abolishment of vernacular schools.    

      

The BN component party further wants the government to allow all communities to maintain and develop their respective language and culture in the formulation and implementation of education policies. 

     

Other resolutions include calls for the civil service to be more transparent, efficient, accountable, aside from reducing bureaucracy and eradicating corruption.      

 

MCA supports the government's efforts in dealing with the MH370 and MH17 tragedies; it called for the people to unite in preserving the dignity and integrity of the country.

              

The party also reaffirmed its Malaysia-China commitment in all fields including politics, economy, culture and education.    MCA wants improvement in the competency of police in combating crime.              

It also called for continuous efforts to reinforce security in Sabah's east coast against foreign intrusion.
