Kedah PAS' Youth deputy chief passed away at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah (HSB) in Alor Setar last night.

Ahmad Izzat Mohd Shauki, 34, who was a former Bukit Lada assemblyperson, succumbed to a stroke at 11.10 pm.

The state legislative assembly deputy speaker from 2008 until 2013 was also diabetic.

His remains were brought to his mother’s house at Batu 2 Lebuhraya Sultan Abd Halim in Alor Setar this morning prior to being sent to Masjid Derga for prayers.

PAS ulama council secretary Ahmad Yahya said a second prayer session was  conducted at Masjid Muassasah Darul Ulum, Pokok Sena at 11am today.

“He will be buried at the Masjid Muassasah Darul Ulum cemetery, next to the graves of former PAS president Fadzil Mohd Noor and former Kedah menteri besar Azizan Abdul Razak,” said Ahmad.

The deceased left behind a wife and five children comprising four boys and one girl, aged between three and 10 years.

At the 2008 general election, Ahmad Izzat won the Bukit Lada state seat with a 208-vote majority against Ariffin Man from the Barisan Nasional (BN).

He failed to retain the seat in the 13th general election last year, losing to BN’s Ahmad Lebai Sudin by 1,324 votes.
