PM to review Pan-Borneo Highway contract
Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman says it has been brought to the attention of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that Sabahan contractors should be awarded the contract for construction of the Pan-Borneo Highway.
Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman said yesterday it has been brought to the attention of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that Sabahan contractors should be awarded the contract for construction of the Pan-Borneo Highway.
Musa said the matter was discussed at the meeting of the state cabinet yesterday, after concerns were raised as to whether local contractors would benefit from the project.
"I have discussed these concerns with the prime minister and he has agreed to review the matter.
“We appreciate and understand the concerns raised by those wanting to see local contractors benefit from this project," he said in Sandakan, when responding to questions from reporters.
Kalabakan MP Abdul Ghapur Salleh said in the Dewan Rakyat recently that the government should award the project to Sabahan contractors instead of wealthy companies from outside the state.
Najib had announced a RM27 billion allocation in Budget 2015 for the construction of the highway.
