The Indian Embassy and the Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam held a Deepavali festival in Hanoi last Saturday to provide locals an insight into Indian culture, Vietnam News Agency ( VNA ) reported.

The event offered an opportunity for Indians to show reverence to Goddess Lakshmi - a symbol of happiness, prosperity and faith in the victory of good over evil.

During the festival, Hanoians watched traditional and modern dances and were introduced to Indian culinary arts, handicrafts and yoga practices.

The custom of candle lighting attracted many visitors.

Deepavali, one of the largest festivals in India, has become a regular celebration of the Indian community in Vietnam.

This year’s event attracted more than 1,000 visitors.
