The university’s Engineering Faculty dean Noor Azuan Abu Osman however said the faculty had not received any official report from the victim who had claimed of being sexually harassed.
“We only received a verbal report from a third party through a short meeting last Friday.
“We are trying our best to contact the victim to come forward and meet us so we can start the investigation (on the allegation),” he said in an email to Malaysiakini .
He also gave an assurance that the faculty was “serious” in ensuring the safety of its students while they are studying at its premises.
Student representative Haw Yu Hong on Oct 18 had posted on Universiti Malaya Association of New Youth’s (Umany) Facebook page an allegation that they received a report of a female student who was molested at the university’s Engineering Faculty.
“To the students who have been sexually harassed, we urge you to voice out to the authorities or to the student representatives so that no more student will be harmed,” Haw had said.
