A wild elephant, caught in a palm oil plantation at Kampung Darat Air Putih here six days ago, has been relocated to the Terengganu side of the National Park at Tasik Kenyir today.

Terengganu Wildlife director Yusoff Shariff said the operation to relocate the 20-year-old male pachyderm took about two hours.

He said the elephant was caught with the help of two female elephant guides or denak following complaints from villagers of their oil palm plantation destroyed by the pachyderm.

The department detected three wild elephants, but two got away, he added.
