A woman who escaped from police detention at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Baru yesterday was arrested at the Ayer Keroh Rest and Service Area (RSA) in Malacca today, police said.

Johor CID chief Hasnan Hassan said in a statement in Johor Baru that the arrest of Muhdalena Ahmad within 24 hours was attributed to the quick action by police and a public tip-off.

“The suspect is now being held under Section 224 of the Penal Code for fleeing from lawful custody. She will be remanded until tomorrow,” he said.

He, however, did not say how the woman managed to reach the rest area.

Meanwhile, three police personnel, two men and a woman, have been detained to assist investigations under Section 223 of the Penal Code for negligence.

They will be remanded until tomorrow.

Muhdalena, 30, who was involved in an amok case in front of Complex B of the Prime Minister’s Department in Putrajaya two years ago, was warded at the HSA on Sunday for delivery of a baby and was missing from the hospital at about 9am.
