The wife of a Sabah fisherman who was kidnapped along Sabah’s troubled east coast five months ago, made her way to Parliament today to appeal to MPs and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to help return her husband.

Chin Pek Yuen today handed over a memorandum to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Shahidan Kassim to seek the government’s attention on her plight, after her husband, Chan Sai Sun, was kidnapped off the coast of Kunak on June 16.

Kidnappers have demanded a massive ransom of RM3 million, and she said she and her family are unable to come up with such a large amount of money.

She said that the police had received the latest call from her husband's kidnappers on Oct 30, threatening to kill Chan if the money is not paid.
 
"We as a family have requested donations from relatives and friends and in these five months, what we had raised did not even come to five percent of what the kidnappers were asking," she said.
 
Chan's parents Chan Kom Wa and Low Sow Ying were also in Parliament today and co-signed the memorandum.
