Kurup, Nancy - toothless ministers from Borneo

YOURSAY ‘Does Kurup really think he can order the AG around?’

Minister: Re-open probe on Ibrahim's Bible threat

Kim Quek: While calling for the Ibrahim Ali case to be re-opened and reviewed, Minister in the PM’s Department Joseph Kurup also said he was merely making a “suggestion” to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

So, like minister Nancy Shukri, Kurup is just another toothless minister making a spineless statement. Kurup also said the cabinet never made any decision because it allows the AGC to do so.

What if the AG blatantly abuses his authority to make nonsense of our rule of law and turn Malaysia into the laughing stock of the world, as proven in this case - shielding the guilty while mass punishing the innocent by abusing the Sedition Act? Is the cabinet also toothless?

If the prime minister remains impotent in the face of such flagrant misconduct by the AG despite having the power to sack (as well as appoint) him, the PM should just resign to save further embarrassment to the people.

Anonymous #19098644: In the first place, the AG is not acting independently but at the behest of the most powerful ministry in the government - the Prime Minister’s Office.

So is the honourable minister from Sabah asking the AG to ignore his boss who gave the order to state that no further action against Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali should be taken?

Peacemaker: Does Joseph Kurup, who originates from Sabah, really think he can order the AG around?

Please Kurup, we know you didn't have the guts to speak up when it mattered. Now that the whole bible-burning brouhaha has blown over, you are trying to put in your two-sen worth to try look like a hero.

Kami ni urang Sabah bah . We know what an opportunist you really are.

CHKS: Why is the silence from the Christian community? Isn’t there any other legal avenue to bring Ibrahim Ali to court?

We can't just let him off hook like that. If he can do it this time verbally, he can do it in action next time. Have we exhausted all legal avenues?

Vincy: I agree with Kurup's suggestion. I think for the sake of national unity, open and thorough investigation must be carried out to avoid such incident happen in future.

Truth Prevails: Good initiative, Kurup. The rest of the East Malaysia BN MPs should support Kurup if they have any dignity at all.

Disgusted: Nancy Shukri has sold out the very people who voted for her. After getting the ministership, she has got her head swollen and forgotten her home state Sarawak.

It’s time for Sarawakians to teach BN a lesson in the coming state elections.

'Kurup's anti-Ibrahim Ali suggestion is seditious'

Mosquitobrain: Ibrahim Ali, we know you're being 'openly' protected by people higher up. But this does not meant you can do what you like to hurt others.

What moderation you're preaching? You're like a crab teaching others how to walk straight. Why the need to share views behind closed-door at cabinet meetings when you've openly threatened to burn the Bible?

Where's the logic? Admit your idiocy and repent.

Ratbatblue: Kurup, now is the time to make a stand. You are a Christian, and you are rightly humiliated by someone who has threatened to burn the most holy of your sacred texts.

As you have protested against this, this person's henchman has called for charges of sedition to be levelled against you.

All along, the members of your ruling coalition have kept mum, allowing you to be further humiliated by these people and you very well know deep inside that no further action on your complaint will be taken.

On the contrary, the tables may be turned against you and you might be on the receiving end. Your path forward has been cleared.

You and your fellow cabinet members from your party should immediately get out of your comfort zone in the coalition and quit if no further action on your complaint is taken after you complain one more time.

Hbasill: Kurup, the ball is at your feet. Simple, do you want to stand up for Christ and his followers who put you in office, or you want to back Perkasa?

A worthy Christian will do the obvious - that is to be on the side of Christ which means it may entail leaving the BN coalition. Take all Christian MPs and state assemblypersons out of BN and see the fall of BN.

What needs to happen is for just one Christian minister or deputy minister to leave the coalition with his party and I guarantee the domino effect will follow and a new government will be formed by whichever party which commands the majority.

A change is a necessity and if it means Kurup is the sacrifice, so be it. Kurup, make a stand and act for God and all Christians in Malaysia. Take the lead.

IQ900: The Holy Quran was originally not written in Bahasa Malaysia, are you saying Quran written in BM or English should also be burned or destroyed?

This is stupidity of the first degree. Mr PM, are you sleeping, or can you say something and start leading the country?
