The Kelantan government will not hesitate to stop the show by a female snake charmer being held at the Kelantan Museum if she dresses without covering her ‘aurat’ (parts of a woman’s body which should not be exposed, according to Islamic teachings).

State Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment Committee chairperson Abdul Fattah Mahmood said any shows held in the state had to be in compliance with rules and regulations set by the state government.

“We will instruct her to stop the show if she cannot follow the rules and regulations.

“We received a report that she did not cover her aurat. She has to cover her aurat because the show is held at a public place,” he told reporters after the weekly state executive council meeting in Kota Baru today.

The month-long snake exhibition and show is organised by the State Museum. It opened last Monday.

Among the attractions there is snake charmer Rahiza Abdul Rahim, 28, also known as ‘Baby Andryanna’, staying in a glass cubicle with 20 snakes.
