The federal government will not reveal the water restructuring deal with the Selangor state government and the water concessionaires in the state as the deal has yet to be completely finalised.

 

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Maximus Ongkili told reporters during a press conference today that the state has yet to complete the takeover of the final concessionaire, Splash, and as such, the agreement cannot be made public.

 

"I have referred to the attorney general and we can't make the master agreement public now," he said.

 

The state government itself had requested for the agreement be made public from its current status of being listed under the Official Secrets Act (OSA). 

 

Maximus however said that the government is willing to reconsider when the deal is done.

 

"The onus is on the state government to complete the takeover of the concessionaires, We have done our part.”

 

He said that the federal government had already set aside RM3 billion to help the state take over the water companies in the state.
