Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has denied allegations of plagiarism involving some of its academicians as claimed in a posting on social website Facebook, several days ago.
Vice-chancellor Dr Raduan Che Rose said the UMK authorities were taking a serious view of the issue and begun investigations into the matter.
“This is a serious matter and I've called on the parties involved to resolve the matter... I think this is merely a misunderstanding," he told reporters after the UMK Citra Award 2014 Ceremony at the Pengkalan Chepa Campus in Kota Bharu last night.
The posting in Facebook revealed misconduct allegedly committed by a UMK professor who faced charges of plagiarism while completing his doctorate thesis at a foreign university.
Raduan said he had contacted the foreign university on the issue and found it was a case of misunderstanding.
Raduan, who is also National Professor's Council secretary-general, said the issue of academic credibility was an important issue and that the university would not tolerate such conduct.
