The cracks detected at the Bukit Aman police headquarters' 33-storey building do not affect the integrity of the building and the safety of its occupants.

Bukit Aman Logistic Department director Zulkifli Abdullah said the cracks found on the second tower of the headquarters were due to the fact that the building had aged over 30 years.

 

However, the PDRM is now monitoring the cracks to ensure the safety of the building and its occupants, he said in a statement today.

Zulkifli also said that the Public Work Department (PWD) and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall had taken follow-up actions to restore the condition of weak slopes around Bukit Aman.

Last Wednesday, Acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun expressed worry over the condition of the building's structure as cracks, as well as soil erosion, were found around the area.

Mohamad Fuzi said the PWD had also given assurance that immediate action would be taken to rectify the problems.
