Controversial cartoonist Zulkifli Anwar Ulhaque, or better known as Zunar, yesterday denied that his wife was detained at the compound of the Palace of Justice last Thursday for selling books which mocked the judiciary and the country’s leaders.

Zunar, 50, said the three people, including two women, detained by the police were his sales assistants.

He said at that time, his wife was in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan, on work matters.

However, Zunar declined to disclose his wife’s name.

“A Bernama report stated that one of the three people detained was my wife, when all of them are my sales assistants,” he told Bernama in Kuala Lumpur last night.

As such, Bernama wishes to apologise to Zunar and his wife for the mistakes it its reporting which were unintentional.

Putrajaya police chief ACP Abdul Razak Abdul Majid, when contacted by Bernama last night, confirmed that police did not arrest Zunar’s wife.
