The print media such as newspapers should evolve according to the times in order to compete with the social media which is now seen as more advanced.

Deputy group editor of the Utusan Malaysia Group Zaini Hassan said the print media would face difficulties selling their newspapers as readers had now moved to social media to get faster information.

“If preparations for change are not made, then the newspapers will definitely face challenging times in the next five years. As such, every report, article and news must attract the attention of readers and be current,” he told reporters after attending a gathering with the Kelantan Darul Naim Media Club (Kemudi) in Kota Baru yesterday.

Zaini said media reports should also evolve to show maturity and transparency without ignoring journalism ethics.

The gathering was attended by 70 members of Kemudi as well as from the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kubang Kerian I Young Journalists Club.
