AUDIT REPORT Nine offices of Malaysian missions abroad are not fully compliant with the asset and store management regulations stipulated by the Foreign Ministry.

Audit analysis done on 10 offices of Malaysian missions abroad found that only one was fully compliant with the regulation, that is the Malaysian Embassy in Bucharest, Romania.

  

The nine non-compliant offices were the Malaysian High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria; Malaysian High Commission in Ottawa, Canada; Malaysian High Commission in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea; Malaysian Embassy in Algiers, Algeria; Malaysian Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil; Malaysian Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela; Malaysian Embassy in Dili, Timor Leste; Malaysian Embassy in Sarajevo, Bosnia; and Malaysian Consulate-General in Vancouver, Canada.

   

"All of the nine offices have yet to fully comply with the regulations concerning the registration, labelling, storing, inspection and disposal of assets, as well as concerning the maintenance of official car log book," the report said.

   

In the report, the auditor-general suggested that the ministry should increase its monitoring activity on the offices to ensure that all matters were done in accordance to the stipulated regulations.

 

"For that purpose, officers involved in asset management should also be given training and sufficient exposure," the report said.
