In what appears to be a bid to dissipate the growing disagreement between DAP and PAS, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang today refused to weigh into PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's repeated absence at the Pakatan Rakyat supreme council meetings.

 

PAS had shot back at DAP to mind its words after the latter criticised Abdul Hadi for not attending Pakatan meetings, stating that this made it difficult for the three-party coalition to function.

 

Asked to respond to this, Kit Siang merely replied: "No need, no need. If they want to say, let them say. We leave it at that.

 

"I don't think I want to comment for now," he added.

 

When pressed if PAS’s refusal to push Abdul Hadi ( right ) to attend Pakatan meeting will led to the coalition's breakup, he again refused to comment further.

 

"We let the matter be for now," he told journalists in Kuala Lumpur today.

 

Last Sunday, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng had said it was difficult to work with PAS if its president continuously refused to attend Pakatan meeting.

 

This, he said, was because Hadi would then overrule his lieutenants who had made decisions at the Pakatan meeting in his place.

 

On Wednesday, the DAP central committee passed a resolution calling for Hadi to attend the top level meetings.

 

This prompted PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar to remind DAP to be "careful" with its statements, stating that it should not be pressuring friends.
