PARLIAMENT The government plans to set up a special court for the goods and services tax (GST) in an effort to monitor GST implementation starting April 2015.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Deputy Minister Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the special court would hear cases against unscrupulous traders who increased their price indiscriminately after the implementation of the GST on April 1 next year.

It would allow such cases to be heard immediately, he said in reply to a supplementary question from William Leong Jee Keen (PKR-Selayang) at the Dewan Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur today.

Ahmad Bashah said 2,200 enforcement officers would be involved in monitoring the price of goods after the GST implementation.
