The flood situation in Terengganu is improving, with more victims allowed to return to their homes yesterday.

According to the National Security Council Terengganu portal, 1,303 flood victims were still at the relief centres as at 9am today compared to 1,521 yesterday evening.

“Out of that number, 1,286 victims from 324 families are from Kuala Terengganu and 17 (six families) from Marang,” it said.

In Kuala Terengganu, the two flood relief centres still operating are at Sekolah Kompleks Gong Badak and Sekolah Kebangsaan Tok Jiring, while in Marang it is at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pasir Puteh.

The flood waters in Dungun district have also subsided and the relief centres closed yesterday.

The water levels in the main rivers in the state are also at normal levels now.

In KOTA BARU, it was reported that the water levels in the main rivers in Kelantan had dropped to almost normal levels, while only 25 flood victims remained at the relief centre in Pasir Puteh as at 9am today.

According to the state government’s official portal, the 25 victims from five families were housed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Wakaf Raja.

The weather in Kelantan in the morning has been forecast to be fine but it will rain in the evening.
