It’s taxpayers we should thank, not Umno
YOURSAY ‘Umno don’t give us money to study medicine. The taxpayers do.’
Doc: Each grain of rice you eat is due to Umno
Sirach:
This doctor, a sorry specialist, needs a check-up. Kedah Umno delegate Dr Mohamad Nawar Ariffin’s thinking is a little confused.
Firstly, whatever he's benefitted through scholarships was funded from the nation's coffers, not Umno Baru's. A big difference, which like many indoctrinated by Umno Baru propaganda, don't care to distinguish.
Umno Baru's two big fibs are:
1) Malays are doomed to serfdom in their motherland without them.
2) The rakyat should be grateful to them for their economic well-being.
The facts tell a whole different story. In the two richest states where Umno Baru is the opposition, the Malays are doing very nicely, thank you.
And our economic well-being would have been far, far better if we had a government which abides to the principles of transparency and accountability.
Odysseus: I also told my kid that every grain of rice she eats is due to Umno. Not because Umno sends me the rice to our family but because of their discriminatory policies, non-Malays work doubly hard to earn their living.
So, my child, life in Malaysia is not fair. Recognise the double standard and work doubly or perhaps, triply hard to have a comfortable life.
And, I thank Umno for not providing me with crutches as this makes me more independent and gives me a voice to speak out without fear or favour.
Meanwhile, we shall continue fight for our rights and right the wrong. Thank you, Umno.
Kawak: Dr Mohd Nawar may be a medical specialist. But he is ignorant of simple government finances. Umno doesn’t give us money to study medicine. The taxpayers do.
The doctor should be grateful to the rakyat who paid taxes to finance his studies and pay his salary.
Survivor: Mohd Nawar, every grain you eat is from Umno. No argument about that. Umno is sick and corrupted. No argument about that, too.
Your friends are correct to accuse Umno of corruption. It is their moral, if not religious duty, to do so, lest your children and children's children will suffer in future if Umno continues to be corrupt.
Caripasal: Mohd Nawar, it is perhaps true that you are a medical specialist because of Umno.
However, I am sure you realise that there are so many more of your classmates or schoolmates who did much better and way smarter than you but were denied a place in medical school.
They were robbed of the opportunity because of Umno’s policy. Of course, you will not have any sense of guilt as you think that is your privilege.
Anonymous #559621903: The government only gave the Malays educational opportunities and civil service jobs upon graduation while the mega bucks and projects were siphoned off by people in power.
Doc, you owe your living to the honest people of Malaysia who toiled and made this country what it is today. And you should owe your allegiance to the nation and its people, not to any political party.
It is a coincidence that Umno was in power when you went to school but that does not mean that Umno footed your bills, it is the people of Malaysia.
Maybe you are talking about the favoured position of the Malays, even a Pakatan Rakyat government has to uphold that as Malays are still backward despite decades of BN rule.
Since you went to school and graduated under Umno rule, does that legitimise Umno’s corruption that robs the nation?
Umno does not pay attention to the high rate of accidents and crime of which Malays are also major victims. If that happens to your family, are you still going to say ‘terima kasih’ Umno.
Kang Kong King: You can tell your 12-year-old child that every grain you take is because of Umno.
I told my 10-year-old child that every grain that he takes was because of almighty God and that he is not indebted to Umno as without Umno he may even be taking a better and cheaper grain.
Please bear in mind it's a world of difference between Allah and Umno.
Pakatan-ku: The rice eaten by the child of the Kedah Umno delegate could be from Kedah "rice bowl" but he has forgotten to tell his child that the rice grown by "pendatang" padi farmers in Sekinchan, Selangor has three times better yield per acre then those grown in Kedah.
Why is it even with Umno's help that their yield is lower than Sekinchan? Your guess is as good as mine - corruption.
