The Negri Sembilan government today announced a bonus of half-month salary or minimum RM500 to its civil servants.

Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan said the bonus would be given in appreciation of the continuous contributions by the state civil servants in implementing government policies.

“The payment will be made on Jan 2, 2015,” he said when tabling the 2015 state budget in the state assembly.

He hoped that with the incentive, the state civil servants would continue to improve their performance.

In an effort to encourage government departments and agencies to improve their financial management, he said a financial incentive of RM10,000 would be given to those which achieved the desired level.

He said based on the 2013 audit conducted on 14 state government departments and agencies by the National Audit Department, nine of them were rated ‘very good’ with a score of more than 90 percent.

“Five agencies were rated ‘good’ with a score of between 84.2 percent and 89.9 percent,” he added.

The departments and agencies which obtained the ‘very good’ rating included the Seremban Municipal Council, State Financial office, State Public Library Corporation, Seremban Land and District Office, State Islamic Religious Affairs Department, State Forestry Department, State Development Corporation, the State Secretariat and the State Islamic Religious Council.
