Only 27 individuals out of 680 nominees will receive Selangor state awards and medals in conjunction with the 69th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, on Thursday.

Selangor state secretary Mohammed Khusrin Munawi said out of the 27 recipients, two would receive the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS) award, which carries the title of ‘Datuk Seri’ and another, the Datuk Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SSIS), which carries the title of ‘Datuk Setia’.

“The remaining 24 will be conferred the Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS) or Datuk-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (DSIS) award, with the men receiving the title of 'Datuk' and the women, ‘Datin Paduka’',” he said in a statement in Shah Alam today.

Mohammed Khusrin said all the recipients had been vetted by the Royal Malaysian Police, Department of Insolvency and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
