PAS today suggested that the Pakatan Rakyat, which also comprises DAP and PKR, resume the discussions and deliberations among its top leaders.

PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar said these meetings were necessary for the opposition coalition to set its direction.

"I urge all Pakatan leaders to resume our deliberations," he told a news conference at the PAS headquarters.

He said all the PR leaders should think positive and be magnanimous in facing the next general election.

A portal report last Monday quoted DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang as saying that he was uncertain whether PR would survive to contest the 14th General Election.

Mahfuz also chastised DAP for questioning the absence of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang at several meetings of the PR Presidential Council. 

He said DAP should call Abdul Hadi earlier to find out whether he was attending the meeting.

"If they do not call, how will they know if he is going to attend or otherwise," he said.

Mahfuz also dismissed an allegation by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail that Abdul Hadi was no longer communicating with the other Pakatan leaders.

"I do not think there is an absence of communication because Abdul Hadi was in Parliament with the other party leaders recently," he said.
