Two PAS members on the Selangor executive council are conferred datukships by the Selangor sultan on his 69th birthday today, while Menteri Besar Azmin Ali was given the miss.

The exco members, Iskandar Abdul Samad (below) , who is also PAS Selangor commissioner and PAS’ Sijankang rep Dr Ahmad Hairi are both awarded the Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS) (second class) award which carries the title ‘Datuk’.

They are among 11 recipients of the same award given out by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today, Bernama reported.

This comes a week after the sultan stripped PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim’s ‘datuk seri’ title for questioning the integrity of the sultan and the royal institution during the recent menteri besar crisis.

Anwar had written to the sultan to seek an audience for his wife and party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail during the crisis, but neither his request nor a following request by Wan Azizah was granted.

A total 102 titles are awarded today including to Perak’s Sultan Nazrin Shah who was awarded the Darjah Kerabat Selangor Yang Amat Dihormati (DK).
