Former national badminton player Razif Sidek made a public apology today to current world number one Lee Chong Wei for the comments he made about the doping charge against Lee.

The notice of apology, published in major newspapers, says Razif apologises to Lee over the comments he made to a Kosmo reporter in an interview.

“I unreservedly and wholeheartedly apologise to Lee Chong Wei for any damage, distress and/or embarrassment caused to him by my statement which has impugned his integrity and honesty.”, the apology states.

Rafiz ( left ) said he would “not make any further statements or allegations” against Lee and admitted that the previous allegations were “false” and “without basis”.

The Kosmo article published on Nov 11 reported Razif as saying the officials of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) were aware that Lee has been taking banned substances for some time but kept silent due to his strong performances.

Lee responded by saying that he would sue Razif for defamation over the allegations made.
