KLIA2 - what's an inquiry for if not to cover up?

YOURSAY 'In Bolehland, probes are set up not to seek truth but to placate rakyat.'

DAP slams Liow for 'cover-up' panel on KLIA2

Kilgore: The investigation on Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) should be on how they went three times over budget, and yet the airport still completely failed.

Then they should round up every crook involved, whip them and throw them in jail. Ah, it's nice to dream...

Abasir: The Public Accounts Committee report noted that problems were caused by "...decisions to locate KLIA2 at KLIA West, a site which had been documented by engineers as costly and ill-suited for airport construction, and the choice of a satellite-type terminal instead of a finger pier terminal as proposed by the airport consultants."

Clearly these decisions were motivated by money waiting to be made by those on the gravy train. There are no two ways about it.

So the question is, who gained by these decisions? Follow the money and you see it leads, as always, to Umno cronies and their godfathers in Umno and some crumbs for their poodles in tow.

Remember the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) scandal and former minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's family and those condos?

This sort of thing is the only reason Liow is bending over backwards to ensure that the truth remains buried in the Sepang swamps.

Malaysian 53: Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai is just doing all he can to cover up the trail which would finally lead to the culprits whom we know. Many of us know who is linked to the sub-contractor and why they chose a site and a design which would be too costly and allowed a cost overran.

It is only to increase the costs multiple times and where does it lead to? An investigative audit of the books and in particular the cash flows would lead to the culprits.

Liow will not allow for such a disclosure because he owes it to Umno for his position in MCA. Now do you understand why MCA will again be trashed at the next GE?

Where Is Justice: The ultra-incompetent government of Malaysia has perfected the art of covering up or sweeping a controversy under the carpet. A cover-up for an earlier cover-up is what this government is good at.

Something smells fishy when Liow calls for a "separate" independent audit committee.

Anonymous_40f4: Have pity for the MCA president. MCA has been given a 'half transport ministry'. Most of his ministerial functions have been taken away by Spad (Land Public Transport Commission), which is under the Prime Minister's Department.

Liow's committee is just another eyewash like the Sabah royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants.

Senior: The standard operating procedure for these probes will be limited terms of reference, and in the end no fault will be assigned.

GMK: AirAsia's boss Tony Fernandez had asked for them to let him build KLIA2, but because of the bumi agenda it was a no go. Now the taxpayers have to bear the blunt force of incompetence and possible corrupt practices.

While the people still lick the wounds of the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal, the 1Malaysia government gives the rakyat another wound to lick.

Now that crude oil prices are collapsing, the people will suffer more due to the abuses in the past involving oil revenue. All Malaysians will have long winter awaiting them in the coming years. Be prepared for the worst to come

Muhibbah: This is the man who said that tear gas canisters were not fired into Tung Shin hospital despite numerous photographic evidence during the Bersih 2.0 protest.

Now Liow said that KLIA2 waterlogging is only ' water ponding ' when it's clearly flooding. Stop the lies, Mr Minister. You're unfit nor possess the intelligence to be a minister.

Continue-The-March: This spineless MCA president won the Bentong parliamentary seat with 379 votes out of 62,666 voters to a newcomer Wong Tack. Liow's job is to keep his job, and not to do anything useful.

Iiiizzzziiii : The fundamentals of democracy 'by the people, for the people and of the people' in Malaysia has been refined to 'by the party, for the party and of the party', and to those who have embraced this version, then they are 'by myself, for myself and of myself'.

No wonder it pays to be a politician in Malaysia.

Headhunter: Isn't this like the Sabah’s Project IC royal commission? It's just a cover-up to protect the crony culprits. To quote Najib's famous one liner, "You help me, I help you."

Lone_Star: In Bolehland, commissions of inquiry or probes are set up not to seek the truth of the matter or the actual perpetrator(s), but just to placate the rakyat that something is being done. If so, is there a real need for them?

Jaycee: Of course, all buildings, roads, and structures built in Malaysia come with scandals and cost overruns. Those traits are a given. Without them, this land would not be called Bolehland.
