Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has said his administration is consulting legal advisors over who should be punished for the large bonus issued to outgoing staff of his predecessor.

"The matter is being referred to the legal advisors on who should face action," he told journalists in Shah Alam today.

Azmin was responding to a question on whether his predecessor Abdul Khalid Ibrahim would be investigated.

Khalid had approved the golden handshake amounting to about RM2.6 million to his outgoing staff in the final days of his time in office.

The former MB was ousted after repeated complaints about his refusal to consult Pakatan Rakyat component parties in his policies.

Eight of Khalid’s officers, appointed by MBI, had earlier been reported to have received a compensation of RM2.6 million.

The payment was allegedly made at the end of Kalid’s tenure, before Azmin took over.

An audit report later presented in the Selangor state assembly on Dec 3, however, found that there were discrepancies in the procedures followed during the alleged payment.

Azmin had also suggested a few other actions that could be taken during his meeting with the MBI management earlier today.

“Action has to be taken as there are a few things that did not comply by the protocol.

“Let them discuss that (action to be taken) with the legal advisor first," said Azmin.

He also reiterated the same reply when asked by reporters if Khalid would be called in for questioning.
