MIC deputy president Dr S Subramaniam deflects questions on the commotion that ensued at the party headquarters yesterday, saying the issue should not be discussed at a “healthy” environment.

 

“Let’s not talk about it here. This is not the right place. Maybe some other time,” Subramaniam said today.

 

The MIC leader was asked about the fracas at his party meeting during a Health Ministry management conference in Kuala Lumpur.

 

“This is a 'healthy' environment; let us keep it healthy,” the health minister told Malaysiakini.

 

He also said that he may answer questions regarding the chaos that broke out during the party’s meeting yesterday at a later date.

 

Yesterday, chaos broke out during an emergency central working committee meeting at the MIC headquarters to discuss the Registrar of Societies’ directive for the party to hold a re-election.

There were angry protesters and party members calling for the resignation of MIC president G Palanivel.

 

However, the Cameron Highlands MP brushed aside the allegations stating that only a small number of people were calling for his resignation.
