Puteri Umno has urged the Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) to give online traders time to register their businesses as required under the Consumer Protection (Electronic Trades Transactions) Regulations 2012.

"We are aware that registering their online business would bring many benefits to the traders themselves but they should be given some time, to enable them to complete company registration and related matters," the movement's head Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said in a statement today.

She said the CCM should hold awareness programmes for online traders on the Act, which was amended last week.

On Dec 17, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Deputy Minister Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said all online traders on Facebook and Instagram are required to register their businesses with the CCM to protect consumers from being exploited or cheated by the traders.
