Consumers must exercise their right wisely if the prices of goods go up, despite the drop in fuel prices.

Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Minister Hasan Malek, who is also Kuala Pilah Member of Parliament, said they should pick the right avenue to report on the matter.

"They talked about prices of goods going up due to fuel price increases in the past, but now the prices of fuel have gone down, so they have to demand the prices of goods be brought down.

"I leave it to consumer associations to voice the right of consumers so that action can be taken against errant traders," he said at a programme of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) in Kuala Pilah today.

He said this when asked to comment on the demand of consumers who wanted the prices of goods to go down as the prices of petrol and diesel had dropped.

"Before the prices of fuel dropped, I have told the Federation of

Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) to be fair to the government, consumers and all quarters. We will discuss with FMM again as the fuel prices had gone down.

"I want to convince them about being in a win-win situation. I also want manufacturers and retailers to discuss and decide on reasonable prices for the goods," he added.
