Four firemen from Al-Muktafi Billah Shah fire station in Terengganu were hurt when their 4WD vehicle plunged into a ravine at 1am today.

Fire and Rescue Department director-general Mohd Nor Ibrahim said a road rescue vehicle (RRV) and a boat also plunged into the 15-metre ravine at Jalan Kampung Syukur-Pasir Raja.

Three firemen, Mohd Fadzil Mohd Jamal, Mohd Faisal Mohd Fauzi and Mohammad Aziz were reported to be in stable condition in Dungun Hospital.

The other, Maharazin Mat Saud was rushed to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) with severe injuries.

Mohd Nor said the firemen were on their way to rescue flood victims and that he received news of the road accident at 3.26am.

“All four firemen who were hurt were rescued by members of the public,” he added.
