Another victim of the bomb blast in Gurun on Dec 24 died in Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) in Sungai Petani this morning.

Sharifah Azlina Hashim,30, who suffered serious injuries, died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of HSAH at 9.21am.

Kedah acting police chief Zakaria Yusof said this brings the total number of victims who died from the bomb blast to four people.

“A special team has been formed under Kedah CID chief ACP Nasir Ya to investigate the causes of the blast.

“We also want to know the types of training undertaken by Ayob Hashim, 34, the army personnel from Kem Hobart, Gurun,” he added.

Sharifah Azlina was the wife of Ayob who was killed in the blast together with their daughter Hidayah, eight, and their neighbour’s son, Afiq Lokman Mohd Sharizal, five.

Their neighbour, Zuraida Mat Robete,30, was in stable at HSAH.

Zakaria said police personnel cleaning up the scene of the blast yesterday found bomb shrapnels.

“We will continue with the investigation and take further action to complete investigation papers relating to this incident,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kedah Health Department director Dr Norhizan Ismail said the remains will be sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar for forensic examination.
